How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

Laser hair removal uses specialized lasers to prevent hair growth. The laser emits a light that is absorbed by your hair’s pigment (melanin). As it is absorbed, the light is converted into heat, which damages the hair follicles.

By damaging the hair follicles, laser hair removal delays and even stops hair regrowth, giving you a long-term hair removal solution.

The Laser System We Use

We use Fotona’s ND: YAG lasers, which are safe for use on all skin types. The laser beam makes contact with your hair follicle, killing the hair at the root.

Most systems use lasers that pulse repeatedly at the same time, which can feel uncomfortable. Our system, however, offers a unique function called FRAC3®. FRAC3® allows laser energy to increase with each pulse, killing the root more gradually. This not only provides more comfortable treatment, but it is also more effective on lighter hairs than other laser hair removal systems.

What to Expect From Your Hair Removal Service

Laser hair removal may take 6-8 treatments to get the desired results. Depending on the size of the treatment area, the procedure may take anywhere from 15 minutes to two hours. You can return for another session every month or so until your treatment is complete. Results may vary, however, most patients see a 90% reduction in hair growth after a series of hair removal treatments.

For the first week or so after treatment, it may seem as though the hair in the treated area is continuing to grow. It is more likely that the dead hair is being pushed out of your skin. You can use a gentle sugar scrub on the area roughly 10 days after treatment to help the process along if you like.

How Many Treatments Before I See Results?
